AIIMS CRE-5 MLT Group 17: Recruitment Overview

Scope: This article explains the original CRE-5 notification dated 13 June 2026. Its application window has closed. Vacancy counts, eligibility and exam arrangements below describe that notification; later official notices may amend them.

AIIMS CRE-5 brought several medical laboratory posts into Group 17, with Medical Laboratory Technology as the domain subject. The group includes Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Lab Technician, Lab Attendant and other technical posts.

The original vacancy table contains 229 vacancies across 33 post/institute entries. This is MLTRecall's calculation from the table, rather than a separately printed group total. It includes attendant and supervisory posts, so describing all 229 as “Lab Technician vacancies” would be misleading. [pp. 17, 123–124]

Why the exact post matters

Group 17 is an exam grouping, not one job with one qualification. The eligibility rules differ between posts and sometimes between institutes using similar titles. A DMLT qualification, a laboratory technology degree and professional experience can lead to different shortlists.

Start with the post and institute vacancy table. Then compare the corresponding qualification row in the eligibility guide. A candidate should assess essential qualifications, experience, age and applicable conditions together. [pp. 57–62]

The notification has conflicting language entries

The Group 17 table on p. 17 lists English/Hindi. The general rule on p. 15 says technical and mixed-qualification groups use English only. The original PDF therefore does not provide a consistent answer. A later official clarification or group-specific instruction is needed before stating the final medium with certainty.

Preparing from this notification

The CBT scheme specifies 100 MCQs in 90 minutes: 20 on general knowledge, aptitude and computer knowledge, and 80 on the group's domain. See the exam pattern and preparation guide for a practical study approach, clearly separated from the official syllabus wording. [pp. 14–17]
