AIIMS CRE-5 MLT FAQ: Vacancies, Eligibility and Exam
Scope: This article explains the original CRE-5 notification dated 13 June 2026. Its application window has closed. Vacancy counts, eligibility and exam arrangements below describe that notification; later official notices may amend them.
These answers explain the original CRE-5 advertisement. They distinguish facts printed in the notification from MLTRecall's calculations and unresolved questions.
Which group covers Medical Laboratory Technology?
Group 17. Its domain subject is Medical Laboratory Technology, and it includes Junior MLT, Lab Technician, MLT, laboratory attendants and other listed technical posts. [p. 17]
How many Group 17 vacancies were in the original notification?
229 across 33 post/institute entries. This is calculated by summing the original vacancy table's “Total” column. It is a baseline count, not a claim that later official amendments left the total unchanged. [pp. 123–124]
Were all 229 vacancies Lab Technician jobs?
No. The count includes 95 Junior MLT, 73 Lab Attendant Grade II, 14 Lab/Laboratory Technician, 26 MLT, 17 Level 6 Technical Assistant/Laboratory Technician, one Technical Officer, one Urodynamic Studies Technician and two RHTC Laboratory Attendant vacancies. [pp. 123–124]
Can a DMLT holder qualify for every Group 17 post?
No. Some rows provide a diploma route, sometimes with specified course duration and experience. Other rows require a degree or a different training combination. Compare your qualification against the complete institute-specific entry. [pp. 57–62]
Can a fresh MLT graduate examine Junior MLT posts?
Yes, several Junior MLT entries expressly provide an MLT degree alternative alongside specified 10+2 science subjects, without printing the one-year experience requirement attached to the diploma route. That wording must not be extended to all posts or institutes. Age, recognition and the remaining conditions still apply. [pp. 57–60]
Does B.Sc. MLT automatically replace DMLT where a diploma is essential?
Do not assume that it does. The three AIIMS Lab Technician entries list DMLT as essential and B.Sc. MLT as desirable. Use an expressly permitted alternative or an applicable official equivalence clarification. [p. 60]
Is experience compulsory for Lab Attendant Grade II?
The original rows list 10+2 science and DMLT as essential, and two years of relevant experience as desirable. This differs from posts where experience is part of the essential qualification route. [p. 60]
Is the exam bilingual?
The original PDF is inconsistent. Group 17's table lists English/Hindi, while the general rules say technical and mixed-qualification groups use English only. A definitive answer requires the applicable official clarification or examination instruction. [pp. 15, 17]
What was the original application period?
13 June to 3 July 2026, closing at 5:00 PM. That window has passed; these dates should not be presented as an open application opportunity. [p. 2]
Was 25–27 July a confirmed Group 17 exam date?
The original notification gave 25–27 July 2026 as the tentative overall CBT window. It did not establish the final Group 17 day and shift in the information reviewed here. [pp. 2, 13–14]
What was the stated CBT structure?
100 MCQs in 90 minutes, carrying 400 marks. The paper included 20 questions on general knowledge/aptitude and computer knowledge, and 80 domain questions. It used five sections of 20 questions, each lasting 18 minutes, with no return to a completed section. [pp. 14–15]
Does qualifying the CBT guarantee appointment?
No. The notification makes appointment subject to eligibility verification and the participating institution's decision. Provisional acceptance or an examination result does not replace the required qualifications. [pp. 2, 7]
Where should official updates be checked?
Use AIIMS Examinations and the relevant official recruitment notices. For this article series, start with the overview, then use the vacancy table and eligibility guide.
