AIIMS CRE-5 MLT Eligibility: DMLT and Degree Routes
Scope: This article explains the original CRE-5 notification dated 13 June 2026. Its application window has closed. Vacancy counts, eligibility and exam arrangements below describe that notification; later official notices may amend them.
There is no single eligibility rule for all Group 17 posts. The original AIIMS CRE-5 notification gives qualifications, experience, age and pay level separately for each post/institute entry. Being eligible for the group examination does not establish eligibility for every post within it.
Use this guide to understand the main routes, then read the full official row for the institute you want to shortlist.
Main qualification routes in the original notification
| Post or entry | Qualification and experience summary | Pages |
|---|---|---|
| Junior MLT at the listed AIIMS and CAPFIMS entries | Specified 10+2 science subjects plus a two-year regular DMLT and one year of relevant laboratory experience in a hospital with at least 100 beds; alternatively, the specified 10+2 science subjects plus B.Sc. MLT/Bachelor of MLT | 57–60 |
| Junior MLT, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital | 10+2 science plus a recognised DMLT and one year of relevant experience; this row does not print the degree alternative used in several other Junior MLT rows | 59 |
| Lab Attendant Grade II | 10+2 science plus DMLT; two years of relevant experience is listed as desirable | 60 |
| Lab Technician, AIIMS Bathinda/Deoghar/Nagpur | 10+2 science plus DMLT; B.Sc. MLT is listed as desirable | 60 |
| Laboratory Technician, CNCI Kolkata | MLT degree with 50% marks and two years of certified post-degree experience; or one of the listed B.Sc. subjects plus DMLT and two years of certified post-diploma experience, subject to the stated recognition and workplace conditions | 60–61 |
| MLT, AIIMS New Delhi/CAPFIMS | Recognised bachelor's degree in MLT/Medical Laboratory Science plus two years of relevant experience in the specified hospital laboratory or an NABL-accredited laboratory | 61 |
| Technical Assistant/Technician and Laboratory Technician entries at Level 6 | B.Sc. MLT or equivalent plus five years of relevant experience; or DMLT or equivalent plus eight years | 61–62 |
| Technical Officer, AIIMS Bhopal | B.Sc. MLT or equivalent plus ten years of experience in the concerned field | 61 |
| Technician (Urodynamic Studies) | Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technologists from a recognised board/institute plus six months of the specified laboratory experience | 62 |
| RHTC Laboratory Attendant (Hospital Worker) | Class 12 with Biology plus a one-year recognised laboratory techniques training certificate; DMLT is desirable | 62 |
The exact science subject combinations, course duration, recognition and experience wording matter. An abbreviated course name alone does not establish equivalence.
Essential and desirable requirements are different
An essential requirement is part of the stated minimum eligibility. A desirable qualification should not be rewritten as mandatory. For example, the original Lab Attendant Grade II entries list two years of experience as desirable, while Junior MLT diploma routes specify relevant experience within the essential qualification route. [pp. 57–60]
Likewise, do not assume a degree automatically replaces a required diploma. Several Junior MLT rows expressly provide a degree alternative, while the AIIMS Lab Technician rows list the diploma as essential and B.Sc. MLT as desirable. Any equivalence must be supported by the applicable rules or an official clarification. [pp. 58–60]
Age and the eligibility date
Age limits vary by entry. Read the exact institute row alongside the age-relaxation section; avoid using one headline age limit for the entire group. The original notification uses the closing date of registration as the general eligibility cutoff unless otherwise stated, and requires the prescribed qualification and experience by that date. [pp. 7–8, 57–62]
For a practical sequence, use the qualification-based shortlisting guide. For the number of posts at each institute, see the vacancy table.
